Diana Botero

Dental Hygienist
GDC Number: 249678

“Oral hygiene is the foundation of everything else in dentistry. When a patient’s gum health is good, everything we do clinically works better and lasts longer. That is why I care so much about getting this part right.”

About Diana

Diana Botero qualified as a dental hygienist in Spain in 2011 and has been working in Scotland since 2014, building over a decade of clinical experience in professional oral hygiene care and gum health treatment. She joined the Newkirkgate team and has become one of the practice’s most consistently valued clinicians, known for her thorough, encouraging and non-judgemental approach with patients of all backgrounds.

Diana has a genuine passion for oral health as a foundation of overall wellbeing. She sees the hygiene appointment not as a routine cleaning but as an opportunity to properly assess a patient’s gum health, identify anything that needs attention before it develops further, and give genuinely useful, personalised advice rather than the same generic guidance given to everyone.

Patients who see Diana regularly comment on her ability to explain things in a way that actually changes their home care habits. She has a gift for making the importance of gum health feel real and relevant rather than abstract, and for helping patients feel motivated rather than guilty about where things currently stand.

Over her years in practice Diana has seen patients arrive with significant gum disease and, through a combination of professional treatment and proper guidance, completely turn their oral health around. That outcome, more than any other, is what drives her commitment to the work.

Clinical Interests

Periodontal Health

Assessing, treating and supporting the management of gum disease at all stages is the core of Diana's clinical work. She brings a thorough and systematic approach to periodontal assessment and takes a genuine interest in the long-term trajectory of each patient's gum health.

Patient Education

Diana invests significant time in the educational aspect of every hygiene appointment, tailoring advice to each patient's specific situation rather than delivering a standard patter. Patients leave knowing exactly what to do differently and why it matters.

Preventive Care

Beyond treating existing gum disease, Diana is focused on prevention — keeping patients' mouths healthy between appointments through improved home care, appropriate cleaning tools and regular monitoring.

Outside Dentistry

Outside the practice Diana enjoys walking, watching series and spending time with family. She has built a life in Scotland over more than a decade and feels very much at home here.
